Updated: Two Men Die in Crash on Pepper Road @ Bodega
Killed when car hits tree; CHP still investigating incident.
Updated 10 a.m. Monday: Two brothers were killed in a solo-vehicle crash in unincorporated Sonoma County west of Petaluma late Saturday night.
The driver was identified by the Sonoma County coroner's office as Luis Manuel Figueroa, 26, and the passenger was his 18-year-old brother, Jaime Figueroa Villanueva.
They were driving west on Pepper Road east of Bodega Avenue in a 1994 Honda around 11:45 p.m. Saturday when the car went off the roadway and struck a tree, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The brothers, both Petaluma residents, died at the scene. An autopsy is scheduled for today, according to the coroner's
office.
CHP Oakland Officer Kevin Bartlett said a motorist driving near the corner of the intersection around midnight came upon the crash and called 9-1-1. CHP officers responded to the scene at 12:05 a.m. and found a white Honda had collided with a tree.
The Sonoma County coroner was called to the scene shortly after 12:30 a.m.
