Four Apprehended During Saturday Night DUI/License Checkpoints

More than 900 cars stopped during eight hour long operation

 

Four people were arrested Saturday night at at checkpoints set up throughout the city to catch drunk drivers and those without a license. The checkpoints, at Old Redwood Highway and North McDowell Extension and Petaluma Boulevard South near Highway 1o1, stopped some 900 cars, of which 24 were directed out of line for further questioning. 

One person was arrested for driving under the influence, another for having an outstanding DUI warrant, and two for driving without a license. All four cars were towed and the cars of the unlicensed drivers impounded for 30 days, the maximum penalty for driving without a license. 

Elsewhere throughout the city, police arrested five people for driving infractions, including three for driving under the influence.

Additional DUI and driver’s license checkpoints are planned throughout the remainder of the year to raise awareness of impaired driving.
