Gaucho Gazette Named Fourth Best Student Newspaper in Country

Awarded at annual student journalism convention in Seattle over the weekend

Casa Grande’s Gaucho Gazette is celebrating after picking up a slew of awards at a student journalism convention over the weekend. The student publication, which typically features 24 pages of news, features, editorials and cartoons, was named the fourth best student newspaper by the National Scholastic Press Association’s Student Journalism Convention held April 12-15 in Seattle.

The paper also picked up eight other awards from the Journalism Education Association, handed out during the event. See below for a list of winners. 

  1. Rachel Jane Insull - superior in news writing
  2. Gabriella Fleischman - superior in editorial
  3. Ian Runge - honorable mention in editing
  4. Camille Gasser - honorable mention in feature writing
  5. Ellorine Carle - honorable mention in sports writing
  6. Keeley Chism - excellence in advertising design
  7. Lucy Slavin - honorable mentionin review writing
  8.  Sheridan Kowta - excellence in cartooning
