Friday and Saturday:

David Morrison, a scientist with NASA's Ames Research Center will give a talk titled "Surviving 2012 and Other Cosmic Disasters." Recently featured on the Discovery Channel & History Channels in regard to 2012 prophecies, NASA’s David Morrison was been a leader in the astronomical community to answer 2012 conspiracy theorist scenarios.

Dr. David Morrison is internationally known for his research on small bodies in the solar system, including advocacy for developing plans to defend the Earth from impacts by comets and asteroids.

On Saturday, Robert Davis, a physicist at Robert Ferguson Observatory will discuss "."

Davis is a software engineer by day and an amateur astronomer by night and an Astronomy and Cosmology enthusiast 24 hours a day. He presents the latest news in space exploration at the docent meetings, writes articles for the observatory’s newsletter ‘Focus’ and for the past three years has taught the annual moon class.

If you go: Cost is $5 at the door and the lectures begin at 6 p.m. with doors opening 30-45 minutes before each leacture. The is at 20 4th Street in Petaluma.

Saturday:

The Petaluma Farmers' Market will be hosting the annual "Massage, Health and Wellness Day in Walnut Park." Vendors will be on hand offering massage by the minute and information for good health and wellness.

If you go: The market’s open 2-5:30 p.m. at Walnut Park, on the corner of Petaluma Blvd. South and D Street.

Saturday:

The evening begins with music and a potluck in the barn 5:30 p.m.-7p.m., followed by a presentation by Charles Kennard on native and introduced plants and their uses for basketry, cordage, food, medicine, and boat-building.

Kennard will show a wide variety of plants in their natural habitats, and discuss gathering, preparation, and uses, mainly following central California Indian practices. 

If you go: There is a suggested donation of $10-$20 but no one is turned away.  The event is from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Tara Firma Farms, 3796 I Street Extension. For more information call 707-225-2404.

Monday:

A special Labor Day show at includes music from Danny Montana and the Bar Association, The Rowan Brothers and the Smokehouse Gamblers.
