12 Week Challenge

Recently we had the body fat truck at the gym. We have the body fat truck come by every 13 weeks. The body fat truck has a scale and you are submerged under water to be weighed. It is the most accurate way to measure the amount of fat on your body. In the last 12 weeks I went from 13.6% to 8.6%; that is a 10lb difference and 5% decrease in body fat. This measurement puts me in the top 97th percentile for men. What does this have to do with life outside of the fitness world? Everything!

In the fitness world we know that 12 weeks is a good amount of time to see great results. If you are not seeing positive measureable results every 12 weeks then you are doing something wrong. I started thinking to myself. What if I added the rest of my life to the 12 week cycle of fitness? I am going to set my goals based on 12 week cycles. Every 12 weeks I will achieve positive measurable success. We often drown out our dreams and ambitions with everyday life. What could we accomplish if we made certain things in our lives nonnegotiable? We would be able to accomplish all of our aspirations.

We are in a constant battle with ourselves of today and ourselves of tomorrow. We have to want our future self to enjoy life more than our present self. By setting myself up on 12 week cycles I will not have to wait as long to become my future self. Of course long term goals will still be there but most things can be accomplished or have considerable steps towards completion in as little as 12 weeks.

Tomorrow starts a new 12 week cycle for me. I am very excited and cannot wait to see how much I can accomplish over this holiday season. The world is yours, but you must reach out and take it because no one is going to give it to you.

Have a happy healthy day.
