Tree of Remembrance Captures Words of Inspiration and Hope

Throughout the holidays one of the most difficult things for us to do is grieve the loss of a loved one. The winter season is supposed to be at time of merrymaking and festivity, not a time to mourn, right? Wrong.

Remembering our loved ones will help us heal from the loss and keep their memory alive. Luckily there are many ways that can be done.

For example, you and your family can participate in community events designed to celebrate how important these people were to you.

In both Santa Rosa and Cloverdale the Tree of Remembrance and Candle Lighting ceremony provides the opportunity to hear words of inspiration and hope, to surround yourself with others who are also going through their own grief.

“Remember to grieve, grieve for your loved ones who have past,” said Ron Henderson, Fred Young Funeral Home Funeral Director. Henderson has written several articles on the topic of grief. He recommends a variety of community and personal options for remembering loved ones during the holidays.

“Attending meaningful memorial services will help us realize others are feeling overwhelmed this time of year. Check with your local hospice, church, funeral home or newspaper for information on upcoming public memorial services. Plan to attend”.

Holiday’s are a time most people want to keep upbeat and positive, but coping with your grief at a time like this, even if it is just sharing a few treasured memories, will make your life richer.
