A Mustang Becomes A Tiger - Dodele Signs at UOP

Senior Rebecca Dodele at St. Vincent High School has signed a letter of intent to attend the University of Pacific on a partial athletic scholarship in the sport of soccer. Rebecca has been a 4-year starter for the Mustangs Varsity Girls Soccer team and has represented St. Vincent well. She has been chosen 1st team All Empire (small schools) since her Sophomore year playing forward or mid-fielder for the Mustangs. Rebecca’s devotion and expertise in soccer has also been shown by her attendance at numerous “showcase tournaments” throughout her Club Soccer career. She has participated on the Sonoma County Alliance Soccer Club 97 which traveled throughout the western states to attend these tournaments.

Soccer may be Rebecca’s passion, but she has not missed the true high school experience of playing other sports, as she competes quite well for the Mustangs in basketball and track. Describing her days of managing soccer with her other commitments, Rebecca says “it can be quite stressful at times, but time management is the key”. And there is no doubt that this young lady is in tremendous physical shape. Imagine playing club soccer game at its highest level on a Saturday morning and then a Varsity high school basketball game in the afternoon leading her team in scoring. Rebecca states that her career at St. Vincent combined with club soccer, has prepared her for the rigors of a Division I women’s soccer program. And she loves the idea of competing in the WCC, one of the toughest women’s soccer conferences in the NCAA.

Rebecca is a student-athlete in the truest sense of the word. Along with her athletic success, she is focused academically at St. Vincent in maintaining a 3.38 cumulative GPA. Her service to the community has been an added plus, as she is the organizer of "Teens for Jeans", a school drive to provide blue jeans to disadvantaged youth. Time management is not only a key for Rebecca, but a necessity! With all this going on with Rebecca, there is no doubt that the University of Pacific Tigers have signed a "true gem".
