St. Vincent Baseball & Softball Trying to Find Answers

The Varsity baseball and softball teams continue to struggle in finding the winning formula as both teams lost yesterday to Healdsburg and Lower Lake respectively. The Varsity baseball team lost 5-4 when Healdsburg scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning. Sky Doble was the losing pitcher of record, but led the Mustangs from the plate going 2x4. Other hits came from Dominic Pedersen 1x1 and Patrick Garcia 1x2. St. Vincent will start league play today against Upper Lake with hopes of posting a win and getting a streak going.

The Varsity softball team lost 4-2 vs. Lower Lake and were only able to come through with 4 hits vs. the Trojan pitcher. The Mustangs have been working hard to limit the defensive errors, and now there is a lack of offense. Veteran Coach Don Jensen is confounded as to finding answers for the Mustang's slow start. St. Vincent starts 3 freshmen, but 2 out of the 3 contributed to the 4-hit total - McKenna Wilson-Kay went 2x2 and Hayley Antonini went 1x3. The returning players from last year's Div. 5 NCS Championship team need to find their game in a hurry so the Mustangs can compete once again at that high of level. Today's league opener vs. Calistoga has been rained out and will be rescheduled. The Mustangs will have to wait until Tuesday's game at Tech High School to "right the ship".
