St. Vincent Basketball Teams Beat Sonoma Academy in League Play

Both the Varsity basketball teams beat Sonoma Academy on Monday with the women winning by the score of 47-35 and the men 39-25. The women had balanced scoring throughout the squad with Senior Jacalyn Murphy leading the pack with 14 points. The Lady Mustangs lost leading scorer Ursyla Baumgarten to a knee injury within the first few minutes of the game, but Rainey Henry came through for the team as Ursyla’s replacement with 8 points. St. Vincent led throughout the game by using their usual full court pressure and quick scoring. This was a good win for the team as Sonoma Academy has evolved into a rival for the Lady Mustangs. They are currently 2-0 in league play and 7-4 overall.
The men posted their first league win of the season and their 3rd win overall. Senior Chris Faulknor led the team with 10 points and Zack Pierson chipped in 8. This game was a good start to get the team back into the win column with more work to be done.
The JV girls team beat Sonoma Academy as well 42-13, and the JV boys lost 53-49 in overtime.
