The Mustangs traveled both north and south for two basketball tournaments this past weekend. The Lady Mustangs went south to San Francisco and played to a successful conclusion in the Urban Tournament. They came in second to a powerful and much bigger school in Galileo, losing in the championship game 65-37. The Lady Mustangs beat Emery 63-48 in the opener and then beat Urban 52-44 to get to the final game. Seniors Ursyla Baumgarten, Rebecca Dodele, and Jacalyn Murphy led the Mustangs in scoring through those two games. The team is now 4-2 overall and will face Roseland Prep on Tuesday in their first league contest.
The Varsity men's team traveled north to Cloverdale to face the host school, St. Helena, and Summerfield Waldorf. They lost to Cloverdale 48-34 and St. Helena 48-45, but came back with a victory over Summerfield 39-29. Sophomore Liam Galten led the scoring with 10 points vs. Summerfield. This proved to be a tough week for the Mustang men as they also suffered losses to Piedmont 54-39 and Branson 64-29 earlier in the week. They hope to regroup Tuesday for their league opener against Roseland Prep. The current record for the Varsity men is 2-5.
