St. Vincent Elementary School Celebrates Successful Trimester of Animation with Film Festival

Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM) were recently celebrated at the 2013 Team da Vinci Film Festival.Over 100 people attended the gala evening.  The stars of the night were in attendance: thirty-six 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th graders.  Over the past few months, each Friday afternoon Team da Vinci met to learn computer programming.  One of our SVES volunteer parents, Brian Rawson, with the assistance of his wife, Stacy, developed an after school program based on a computer programming language named Alice, developed by Carnegie Mellon University.  Alice allows students to learn the fundamentals of coding while producing 3D animations and interactive games.   Team da Vinci will continue challenging our students with science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics with the winter session that will feature robotic workshops.  Our 7th and 8th graders will work with hands on advanced robotics which will enhance any inventor portfolio for those high school applications!  Team da Vinci:  Powered by STEAM.
