St. Vincent Wins First Round Game in NCS Tournament

The Mustang baseball team came through with a 4-1 victory over College Prep of Oakland to advance to the next round of the North Coast Section Tournament. Soph. Liam Galten pitched a complete game 6 hitter to become the winning pitcher of record. The lone run for the Cougars was unearned. The Mustangs collected 10 hits led by George Sammon 3x4 (3B, 2 RBI), Max Cowell 2x4 (2B), Patrick Garcia 2x4, and Sky Doble 1x3 (2B). St. Vincent had previously played College Prep in March, and lost to them in 9 innings 4-3. So, it is very sweet to beat a team the second time around,  particularly when advancing in the NCS tournament is on the line. The next game should prove to be a battle for the Mustangs as they will play at #1 seed Head Royce of Oakland on Friday at 4:00.
