Annual Event Raises Money for PVH

Benedetti Leadership fundraiser honors Petaluma community activists

The held its annual fundraiser Friday at the new Green Music Center in Rohnert Park, a cathedral-like symphony hall set to open in 2012.

The evening honored Gordon and Ann Blumenfeld, longtime Petaluma activists who are involved with the community hospital. The goal of the fundraiser was to raise $60,000 for 15 gurneys in the hospital’s emergency room.

“Every year, we focus on whatever area of the hospital we feel needs improvement,” said Mary Farrar, chair of the event and a marketing coordinator at Avalon Assisted Living.  In previous years the Petaluma Valley Hospital Foundation has raised money for surgical equipment and repairs to hospital and examination rooms.

The Benedetti family has been crucial in fundraising for the Green Music Center, a state of the art concert hall at Sonoma State University that is said to be “acoustically perfect.” The walls of the hall are made of birch wood, which creates a surround-sound type of experience. It will host world-class performances when it opens next fall.
