Blood Donors to Get Hot Lap at Sonoma Raceway

The 13th annual High Speed Blood Drive on Monday promises donors a ride around the track with a professional instructor in an official raceway vehicle.

Sonoma Raceway is partnering with the American Red Cross and the Blood Centers of the Pacific for a one-of-a-kind blood drive Monday.      

Community members and race fans who donate blood during the 13th annual High Speed Blood Drive at the raceway will get to ride around the track with a professional instructor in an official raceway vehicle, according to raceway spokeswoman Jennifer Imbimbo.

The drive will be from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.          

"I've been coming out for four years and I really enjoy helping out this great cause," said George Scollard, of Rodeo. "The kicker is getting the hot lap. It's one of the most amazing things I've ever done."
