It wasn't the gun that was the problem. It was the individual who carried it. Shall we prohibit drinking b/c of drunk driving deaths, take everyone's license away b/c more people are killed in auto accidents each year than by gun shots? Don't be ridiculous and fall for this move to ban guns. The young man was mentally ill. There is no stopping the mentally ill with the current lack of care/resources provided for them in the U.S. Read the following article... This just gets old, hearing the same old tired and irrelevant arguments and false assumptions. I would love to have the same level of regulations on guns that we have on cars. We have car safety features such as seat belts, air bags and speed limits. We require people to register their cars and have drivers licenses and pass stringent driving tests. Cars do not have the primary purpose of being lethal weapons like guns and ammo. Cars have a pragmatic purpose necessary in our day to day lives. Guns do not. The NRA has brainwashed many in the past 30 years to convince people that the 2nd amendment guarantees individuals the right to own as many guns of any type as they can afford. This is just not true. The article you site is heartbreaking but is irrelevant. We don't know if the killer was at all like this other boy. If he was why would Lanzas mother have guns lying around? The statistics regarding US gun violence and gun ownership compared to other developed countries is overwhelming and cannot be denied. Something has to change.
