Cruisin' the Boulevard: Saturday Lineup for 'Salute to American Graffiti'
Petaluma’s 9th Annual Salute to American Graffiti Celebration
Events on Saturday, May 17
Free to Spectators in Downtown Petaluma.
What to do and see:
- Spin that radio dial to 88.1FM and listen as XERB again flies your favorite oldies all around the world right from downtown Petaluma.
- Many merchants have special events including art shows, demonstrations, special window displays, and of course, sales.
- Check out the many classic cars, vendors, and special happenings.
- Get all your 50’s & 60’s nostalgia merchandise at the CTB booth on the corner of Western Ave and Petaluma Blvd.
- Back by popular demand is Petaluma’s own Pacer Car Club record holding racecar.
- Stroll on over to Mel’s Burger City and grab a burger or dog for you and your sweetie served up by none other than our own Petaluma Police Officers.
- Don’t forget to check out all the over 400 plus classic cars and trucks.
- Talk to the owners and see if you can find the owner who drove the farthest.
- Dance and sing to the live bands on our main stage.
- Visit the more than 30 vendors located on Western Ave and B St!
- Get all your Salute 2014 collectibles at Cruiser Central.
- And don’t forget that the American Graffiti cruise starts at 4pm
7:30 a.m. Salute 2013 entry vehicles begin arriving downtown
8:30 a.m. XERB – Tune your radio to XERB – 88.1FM – Disc Jockey and our Petaluma Mayor, David Glass, will be hitting the microphone with some great old tunes.
8:30 a.m. – 8 p.m. Cruiser Retail opens – Get all your American Graffiti merchandise
9 a.m. 8 p.m. Merchandise Vendors open
10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Cub Scouts Pinewood Derby, Theater Square, C & 2nd Sts
10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Stop by the American Graffiti Display on the corner of Western Ave and Kentucky St. There you will see and meet the American Graffiti Tribute Team and their display of cars. You will also see a few of the cars and their owners that were featured in the movie.
10a.m. – 4 p.m. When you stop by the American Graffiti Display, make sure you visit with Candy Clark aka Debbie, from the movie. She was nominated for an Oscar for her part in the movie!
10 a.m. – 9 p.m. Local merchants open their doors to you! Check them out! Petaluma has some unique items. You may just find something you just can’t live without.
10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Our local merchants pick and award their trophy picks
10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Stop by the Flowmaster Truck on B St to see what new items they have to offer. If you have an exhaust question, they’re the experts, so ask
10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Petaluma Historical Museum, 4th St. There is always something special going on
10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Take a short walk to our Theater District on C St and Petaluma Blvd and check out the customs cars of New Metal Kustoms
10 a.m. – 8 p.m. Take a walk around the town and see if you can find all the spots that were featured in the movie, you may have to go outside the containment area to see them all.
10:30 a.m. Mel’s drive-in opens to serve you some of the best burgers in town.
11:15 a.m. Watch as five Petaluma girls from the Keenan School of Irish Dance put on a little show at the main stage
11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Head on over to the big stage to take in the music of The Hot Rod Jukebox, they really know how to rock!
1:30 p.m. – 3 p.m. The Deadlies take over the stage bringing in their own style of music which will have you dancing in the streets 2pm We invite everyone to join our Street Dance in front of the radio station. Although we aren’t trying for a world record of dancers, we would like to get everyone out there for some serious fun!
2 p.m.– 5 p.m. Opening day for the Petaluma’s Farmers Market, Walnut Park, 4th & D St. Enjoy farm fresh produce from some of Petaluma’s local farms
2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. Meet our famous local Clo the Cow and have your pictures taken with her, she’s simply MOOvelous

3 p.m. – 5 pm. New to our American Graffiti stage this year, please join us as we welcome British Invasion So sit back and enjoy or find your dancing partner an show everyone you CAN dance
4 p.m. - 8 p.m. Cruise Starts – We’re bringing back the good times you remember from your high school days when the roar of 400 plus classic cars start their engines and take to the streets to do what they were made to do, Cruise the Boulevard!
ATTENTION CRUISE WATCHERS! Perhaps the best place to watch the cruise will be along Petaluma Blvd, south of B Street all the way down to Boulevard Lanes (Bowling Alley).
Grab you chair, a picnic basket, something to drink, your portable radio (tuned to 88.1fm) and if necessary, jackets and a blanket. Find a spot to watch the action. Be sure to wave and give the thumbs up to all the cruisers!
9 p.m. Official cruising ends – streets open, you can stay as long as you want but your vehicle must be legally parked
Midnight: Clean up ends, CTB board members go home, they turn off the phones, go to bed and don’t wake up until Wednesday, noon!
Once they wake up, they start planning the 2015 event so be prepared for another fun event.
