Community Corner

Hope Tank

The world has enough think-tanks, what it needs is an opportunity to discuss the challenges faced by the community, the nation and the world in an effort to explore positive, nonviolent solutions based on the principles on peace and nonviolence, a Hope Tank! This is an opportunity to think big and to dream big about the world as it could be, and what we can do to get it there! It's time to inject positive energy into the negativity of politics and the news!

Here's how it works: Hope Tank begins with meditation from 7:30-8:30am, followed by a vegetarian potluck breakfast (bring something to share) and discussion lasting about an hour and a half. To get us started on the right foot, these first Hope Tanks will be kicked off with a short talk about nonviolence by UC professor emeritus Michael Nagler, co-founder of the Peace and Conflict Studies Dept. at UC Berkeley, author of Search for a Nonviolent Future and Our Spiritual Crisis, and founder of the Metta Center.
