Go, Rhino, Go! Local Converting Pickup Into Funky Art Car

Kevin Clark, a local Petaluma resident, has launched a Kickstarter campaign for a mobile art piece titled Rhino Redemption.

A 1974 Chevy pickup truck serves as his canvas. He and his team remodeled the cab and hood and are using the frame to create a robotic, metal Rhino.

The idea is to transport passengers off-road in a contraption that will eventually pull a covered gypsy carriage.

The goal of the Kickstarter campaign is to raise $5,000 for the total $10,000 budget through small donations ($1-$50) for T-shirts, tours on the art car, or use of the “mutant vehicle” at local public events and parties in Petaluma.

Kevin is supported by a group of builders, carpenters, IT hacks, artists, plumbers, makers and thinkers, who travel as far as Taiwan, Washington DC, Seattle, San Francisco, and Petaluma, to build a camp together annually at Burning Man.

About two months of labor have been contributed in-kind via prepping the art car for its accessories, artistic embellishments and other hardware.

As of July 13, the project ranked as #15 on the popular list of 1,776 public art projects listed on Kickstarter. Kickstarter chose it as a “Staff Pick” last week https://twitter.com/ksr_staff/status/489070006182096896 ... and ... the project ranks in the top 1 percent in the world for popularity for Art projects www.kickspy.com/top/art
