Last Petaluma River Tour of the Season This Week

Are you interested in learning more about the Petaluma River and big plans for its future?

Join river access evangelist Susan Starbird for a free, two-hour tour this Thursday starting 9am.

The tour will highlight several critical central-city access spots along Petaluma Water Ways and cover up to three leisurely miles.

Walkers should wear sturdy shoes, dress for weather, and carry a beverage.

Petaluma Water Ways is a vision for recreation, health, and the environment based on Petaluma’s 1996 River Access and Enhancement Plan. It includes 7.5 miles of waterfront trails connecting to regional trail systems, multiple launch spots for human-powered watercraft, a community boathouse, small craft rental center, river overlooks, and other features.  

It links together existing landmarks along the city’s waterfront such as the Turning Basin Trestle, David Yearsley River Heritage Center, Marina, and Shollenberger Park. 

The tour is a project of the Petaluma Small Craft Center and with sufficient interest the series will continue.  The Petaluma Small Craft Center is dedicated to river access for human-powered small craft, the construction of a public, dock-based rental center and, ultimately, a public boathouse in Petaluma.
