Enjoy Music, Pick Your Own Veggies and More Fun Stuff This Weekend

Check out what's happening this weekend around Petaluma

On Friday, get a rare opportunity to hear publishing world insiders as they talk about new books about to be released along with their summer favorites. Enjoy Hawaiian snacks including poi, poke and kalua pork at this summer luau at Copperfield’s Books, 140 Kentucky St. Free. 7pm.

Or enjoy movies under the stars at Lucchesi Park. Tonight's flick is Kung Fu Panda. Before the screening at 8:30pm, enjoy music and kids' entertainment. Free. 320 N. McDowell Blvd.

On Saturday, it’s the , an annual fundraiser for music programs at local schools. Performers at the all-day festival include roots-rock bluesman Jackie Greene, the funk and groove band The Pimps of Joytime, Poor Man’s Whiskey and San Francisco gypsy rock group Diego’s Umbrella.

In addition, enjoy rocking country soul singer Nicki Bluhm & the Gramblers, psychedelic southern rock quintet Truth & Salvage Co., and the punk tinged bluegrass of Old Man Markley. Tickets are $35 at the door.

On Sunday, and fruit on a farm and pack a picnic. Bloomfield Farms in Valley Ford is inviting guests to harvest their own box of seasonal organic produce.

Grab a crate and fill it up with broccoli and lettuce to kale, chard, squash and celery. You can also meet members of the farming team and glean some gardening tips from them! $25. 9am-2pm.

If you don’t want to drive out of town, but are interested in meeting gardeners and local farmers, don’t miss Green String Farm’s Crop Swap from 2-3:30pm.

Bring a prize bell pepper, load of zucchini and swap produce at the farm, located at 3571 Old Adobe Road. RSVP at info@greenstringinstitute.org or call 707-778-7500.

Or check out the new exhibit of antique wedding dresses at the Petaluma Historical Museum. 10am-4pm. $5 general admission/free for children 12 and under.

And hate to break it to the author, but Cause of Action is a right-wing funded legal (tax exempt of course) group that takes on conservative causes, such as this effort to overturn the Obama Administration's correct decision to enforce the deal the Lunny's made.
