Thirteen-year old Trevor Smith loved baseball, wrestling and the movie Grease.
But his young life was cut short when he died in a roadside accident this June while on his way to Lake Mendocino.
Now Trevor’s family has set up a scholarship fund to help Petaluma parents whose children want to play baseball, but don’t have the means and are holding an event Saturday, October 20 to raise money.
“It’s ironic and fitting that our town found a passion for baseball through the success of the Petaluma National Little League,” says Krista Gawronski, founder of the Fabulous Women, a group that raises money for local causes.
The “Angel in the Outfield” event will held at the Petaluma Valley Athletic Club and include a dunk tank, jumpy house, carnival games and an appearance by Petaluma Nationals Little League players, many of who played baseball with Trevor.
The event will be held Saturday, October 20 12-5pm at Petaluma Valley Athletic Club, 85 Old Corona Road, and is open to the entire community and not just members of the gym.
