Plan Your Butter and Egg Days Outing

The fun starts at 10am Saturday

Get out your chicken and egg accessories. It's Butter and Egg Days Parade!

One of Petaluma's biggest festivals happens this Saturday 10am-5pm, featuring fun events like the cow chip throwing and Cutest Little Chick contests that are a nod to our egg-centric heritage.

And then, of course, is the festival food, vendors (my favorite is the hula hoop woman, please come back!) and of course awesome floats.

The theme this year is "River of Dreams: Then & Now." The contests start at 10am and the main parade at noon. Beer and wine booths open at 11am (please drink responsibly!) Following the parade, funk band the The Mighty Groove performs from 2-5pm and the Radio Disney Road Crew offers up music, games and prizes from 2-4pm.

In other words, there's a lil' somethin' for everyone.

"It's one event that brings people together," says Marie McCusker, executive director of the Petaluma Downtown Association, which organizes the parade. "It's a chance for people to come out and be community spirited and we need that now more than ever."

Event organizers want to encourage visitors to support the parade by buying a button and remind attendees to bring their own water bottles in order to reduce number of disposable cups used. See ya at the parade!
