Rancho Obi-Wan Star Wars Collection in Petaluma Wins Spot in Guinness World Record Book

Steve Sansweet's Rancho Obi-Wan Star Wars museum has been recognized as the world's largest collection of Star Wars memorabilia.

He's got Figrin D'an, a Wampa, custom-painted Stormtrooper helmets and more. Petaluma's Steve Sansweet has so many Star Wars collectibles he's only counted a third of them–and that was still enough to make it into the record books.

Sansweet, president of the nonprofit Rancho Obi-Wan Star Wars museum in Petaluma, has been recognized with a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records for the world's largest collection of Star Wars memorabilia

He says staff from the museum have been cataloging items on and off for about seven years, and have counted 90,546 items so far. That's three times more than the previous world record holder, and a far cry from the estimated 300,000 pieces Sansweet thinks the former chicken farm houses.

"I got interested in Star Wars as a result of loving science fiction growing up," Sansweet, a former journalist and a retired Lucasfilm employee, said in a video interview with Guinness.
