60s Musical, Chili Cook-off, GranFondo for Kids and More This Weekend

On Friday, catch Petaluma the Musical, now in its third year, playing at the Woman’s Club. The musical features local performers and tells the story of a group of politically active young people living in Petaluma in the ‘60s, fighting the Vietnam War draft and advocating for world peace.

They hear about Woodstock and decide to put on their own version of the festival in Petaluma. Audiences are invited to come dressed in 60s clothing and sing along to their favorite 60s songs. Woman’s Club, 518 B Street. $20. Children under 12 free.

On Saturday, take part in the 16th Annual Great Petaluma Chili Cook-off, Salsa and Beer Tasting at the Sonoma – Marin Fairgrounds.

Revel in the spicy tastes and aromas of the best chili and salsa in the North Bay. Then cool your palette with beer from the top breweries in California, with a chance to meet the brew masters. 1-5pm at Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds. $25. Benefits Cinnabar Theater.

On Saturday, help raise money for Petaluma schools and children living with disabilities and life-threatening illnesses at the Bici Sports Kids’ GranFondo. 9am Lucchesi Community Center.

On Sunday, treat mom to spectacular scenery on a Mother’s Day ranger-led hike at Tolay Lake Regional Park. Enjoy views of southern Sonoma County and maybe even San Francisco while learning about the park’s rich biodiversity and cultural history. Sunday 10am-1pm. Free.
