Pique Assiette Mosaics Workshop

What to do with all that STUFF? You know, the flea market treasures, grandma’s clip-on earrings, Dad’s cheesy cufflinks? Toys, buttons, coins, memorabilia? Well, let’s make something special out of them!

Pique assiette is an old French folk art that incorporates pieces of broken ceramics – plates, dishes, cups, tiles – and other found objects into the design.

Instructor Kathy Joseph is an ex-TV comedy writer who escaped from Los Angeles to Northern California 15 years ago. She uses the same tools of comedy – exaggeration, irony, conflict and satire – to create her colorful, humorous art. Kathy teaches mosaic art to both adults and children at her studio in Sebastopol. Her pieces can also be seen at various wineries and galleries around Sonoma County, and she is a regular participant in Art at the Source every June.
