Sci-Fi Writer’s Panel : Topic: “Yesterday’s World of Tomorrow, or Hand Me Down That Jetpack, I’m Having Lunch on Mars!”

Sci-Fi Writers Panel with Peter Beagle, Michael Kurland, & Richard Lupoff discussing the topic "Yesterday's World of Tomorrow or Hand Me Down That Jetpack, I'm Having Lunch on Mars!"

Whatever happened to your grandfather’s future? It was all bright and shiny with flying cars and individual jet packs and great dirigibles crossing the world’s oceans and trains that zip across continents in an hour and cities on the Moon. All of that is indeed possible today, and yet none of it came to pass. Why? On the other hand mankind hasn’t destroyed itself with atomic weapons or death rays or strange diseases unknown to science — although it’s come pretty close on a couple of those.

Peter Beagle, Michael Kurland and Richard Lupoff, renowned science fiction writers and brilliant prognosticators will discuss what happened — what went wrong, or on some cases right — and why it’s so hard to predict the future.
