University of Texas Professor Ian Hancock, a world re-known authority on the Roma people and a former representative to the UN, presents a talk titled “The ‘Gypsy’ image and the Romani reality” Saturday, March 31 at the Petaluma Historical Museum.
Hancock, a British Roma, is a linguist and a political advocate for the Roma people, who total around 10 million people worldwide. In his lecture, he discusses the history of the Roma people and the stereotypes often associated with them. A wonderful opportunity to understand the culture and the people in-depth.
