Theater at the Adobe, Stand Up Paddleboard and Other Fun Weekend Events

See what's happening around town this weekend with Petaluma Patch

Have you gotten the memo?

It’s supposed to be hot, hot, hot this weekend, with temps peaking at 90 degrees on Saturday and 86 degrees on Sunday. So staying cool and out of the sun (and close to water) is recommended.

Start the weekend at where “Hillbilly Be-bop” group Jimbo Trout will entertain Friday evening starting at 6pm.

On Saturday, head to the river for a stand up paddleboard lesson with Clavey Paddlesports starting 8am.

The 2.5 hour lesson includes equipment overview, paddler safety, how to get on and off your board, proper stance for maximum stability, forward stroke, and essential turning techniques.  This is a beginning class designed to give you the skills and confidence to get on the water and have a fun and be safe. $60. Pre-registration required.

As the heat subsides, head to the Petaluma Adobe to catch some theater under the stars. On Saturday, Sonoma Theater Alliance together with the Sonoma/Petaluma Historic Parks Association kicks off “Two Gentlemen of Sonoma,” inspired by Shakespeare’s “Two Gentlemen of Verona,” a comedy about love and the foolish things it makes people do.

In the play, Verona and Milan become Petaluma and Sonoma and the Duke of Milan is replaced by General Vallejo. Play runs through August 26. $22. Performance starts at 7pm.
