Motown at Mystic, Party at Sunflower Center and More This Weekend

Got plans for the weekend? Here are a couple of ideas

On Friday, Bay Area music group Pride and Joy hits the Mystic with their Motown and funk-inspired tunes that will have you dancing in no time. Brace yourself for sequined outfits and covers of 60s, 70s and 80s hits, including Aretha Franklin, Michael Jackson and more. $19. Doors open at 8:30pm

Take a hula-hoop class, learn about traditional medicine and enjoy Indian dancers at Sunflower Center’s One Year Anniversary Party this Saturday. Since relocating from Fairfax a year ago, owner Lydia Kindheart has created a true community space that offers healthy food, classes and a place to gather with friends and neighbors. 11am-11pm. Free.

Saturday evening, rub shoulders with local wine aficionados at the Petaluma Gap Alliance’s Winter Soiree. Sample wine from local vineyards including Clary, Armagh, Keller Estate, Enriquez and more. Then dance the night away to live music by the H.O.T.S. $40. Mystic Theater. 6:30-11pm

If you want something more low-key, check out Slow Poke at Aqus on Saturday evening, playing blues, country, swing and more. 7-9pm. Free.

Just like they question the science of climate change, the right-wingers funding the Drakes BayRead More Oyster Farm's effort to break their deal with the National Park Service now are questioning the peer-reviewed science that led to the decision to end the marine slime and plastic pollution from the corporation's operation. And hate to break it to the author, but Cause of Action is a right-wing funded legal (tax exempt of course) group that takes on conservative causes, such as this effort to overturn the Obama Administration's correct decision to enforce the deal the Lunny's made.
