Great Weather, Eclectic Tunes Mark 6th Annual Petaluma Music Festival

Saturday’s Petaluma Music Festival was not packed to the gills, with plenty of space for more attendees at the fairgrounds.

But that was just fine for the estimated 3,500 people who were there, who spent the afternoon listening to 14 bands, sipping wine and beer and relaxing with friends.

The mood was friendly, the weather perfect and the tunes— a mix of rock, tribal and country—offering a little something for everybody. Visitors could bid on an autographed guitar (including one by Willie Nelson), catch performances by Capoeira Petaluma during intermissions and practice their hula-hooping skills on the lawn.

“I’m really pleased with how today went,” said festival director Cliff Eveland. “Every band has done a phenomenal job.”

The festival, now in its sixth year, raises money for music programs at Petaluma schools. Money raised at the event helps pay salaries for music teachers, repair instruments and send students to music and choir competitions.
