Middle March Weekend in Petaluma and Surrounds

It's not all about St. Patrick's Day this weekend.

At the risk of repeating ourself, it’s not all about St. Patrick’s Day this weekend, but if you forgot to check out our round-up of Irish events you can do it now. Or review the below for other fun stuff to do in Peta-lu, from our Patch Events.

For Saturday, there may still be time to jump aboard the 10 a.m.  guided introductory walk to Paula Lane Nature Preserve, an upland habitat open space project of the City of Petaluma, Open Space District, and Paula Lane Action Network.  Reservations are  required so don’t hesitate to contact info@paulalaneactionnetwork.org or call 707-773-3215.

Well here’s a nice thing to do on a mild Saturday. It’s called “A Perfect Day in Sonoma,” out at Azari Vineyards on Chileno Valley Rd. Join Azari at Pacheco Ranch to experience life on a working ranch and creamery with a cheese-making and wine adventure. Donna Pacheco, cheesemaker, will teach about creating award-winning cheese, and participants will be treated to a simple gourmet lunch and all the baby goat cuddling you can handle. There’s more, too – it’s a full day, from 11:30 to 5:30, $160 per person. Call 763-1025 for info.

On Saturday evening, at 7:00, Copperfield’s plays host to author Beverly D’Onofrio, who reads from and talks about her book “Astonished,” a memoir that charts D'Onofrio's journey from a rape crime through denial, mourning, anger, vulnerability, and retreat at five different monasteries.  D’Onofrio is author of the best-selling “Riding in Cars with Boys.”

Tonight at the Phoenix Theater there’s a benefit for the Green String Farm Institute called Conscious Culture, with performances by Rocker-T, one of the founding elements of the New York City dancehall scene. Also Persistence, Anc ient Mystic and others. Price is $10 at the door, 201 Washington St. Organic produce will be provided.

In a slightly different vibe, The Sunflower is the scene for a CD release party for the Skiffle Symphony’s “I Like Mountain Music.” Other performers include Home Brew, Alex Jenkins and Brooke and the Caterpillar. It’s free – CD’s and T-shirts are $10 – and starts  at 7 p.m.
