Petaluma Weekend Planner July 8-10

Who says Petaluma is boring? There are a ton of things going on around town. Here are some highlights

Friday:

To formally welcome the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge to California the will host a "Royal-tea" where visitors will raise their cups in a statewide toast to the newlyweds. Members of the public are invited to attend this free event and all are encouraged to wear their best hat in honour of the British tradition. A prize will be awarded for 'Best Hat.'  A photograph will be taken of the assembled group at 4pm. 

If you go: Space is limited at this free event, so please RSVP to (707) 769-0429. The tea is from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the , 204th St. in Petaluma.

Friday:

The Petaluma Parks & Recreation Movies in the Park series runs through Aug. 26. This week's film is SHREK FOREVER AFTER and in addition to the free movie, there will be musical guests, children's activities, a barbecue, movie snacks and raffle prizes.

If you go: The free event begins at 6:30pm with the movie beginning at dusk in Lucchesi Park - 320 N. McDowell Boulevard, in Petaluma. Don't forget your blankets and chairs!

Saturday:

and present the Aqus Foundry Festival, a summer festival with five bands on two stages on the banks of the Petaluma River. Enjoy food and beverages from local purveyors like , Pizza Politana, Paella del Reyes, and Courtway Catering.

The musical lineup includes the acoustic Americana band, The Easy Leaves, Alison Harris & Barn Owls, GreenHouse, modern jazz group The Piezoelectric Effect, cover band The Mighty Groove and the Django Reinhardt cover band The Hot Club of Marin (at Aqus Café).

If you go: Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for 20 and under and ClubAqus members are $7.  Tickets can be bought in advance at Aqus Café and at the door. The festival is from 2 to 10pm at the River Stage, 625 2nd Street in Petaluma.

Sunday:

The 10th Annual Art & Garden Festival is a showcase of local art and crafts, horticulture, fine wines, tasty brews and delicious food. In addition to the art, a children’s play area will be available with games, face painting, seed planting, a jumpy castle and more. Live music by Tommy Castro, Zebop, Luvplanet, and D’Bunchovus will have you dancing in the streets.

If you go: The free festival is from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 4th Street and Kentucky Street in Petaluma.
