Pulitzer Prize-Winning Author Michael Chabon in Petaluma Today

Will sign and read from his latest novel "Telegraph Avenue"

Pulitzer Prize-winner Michael Chabon will be at Copperfield’s Books tonight to discuss his latest book, Telegraph Avenue, a novel about two friends who own a record store whose future is being threatened by a big-box development.

The book has described as “NorCal Middlemarch set to the funky beat of classic vinyl soul-jazz and pulsing with a virtuosic, pyrotechnical style all its own.”

While protagonists Archy Stallings and Nat Jaffe agonize over what the megastore, the Dog Pile, means for their livelihood, their wives, who run a successful midwife practice, get tangled up in a difficult birth that tests their reputation as well as friendship.

Copperfield’s calls Telegraph Avenue the “great American novel we've been waiting for…Generous, imaginative, funny, moving, thrilling, humane, triumphant, it is Michael Chabon's most dazzling book yet.”

Starts at 7pm at Copperfield’s Books in Petaluma. 140 Kentucky Street.

I think that showing The Hunger Games in this venue is a mistake. These outdoor family film showingsRead More do attract families, and frequently families with younger children. It would be close to child abuse to permit a younger child to watch this movie. Not so sure it would be a good idea for teens either. I believe that this choice was not well thought out. I hope it can be changed to something that would be beneficial for all ages to see. For example, I recommend a film called "Like Stars on Earth" directed by Aamir Khan. A very moving and thoughtful film.
