Ugly Dogs, Movies in the Park and Wine and Dancing for a Good Cause

Patch weekend picks for Friday, June 22-Sunday June 24

It’s all about the fair this weekend at the Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds. On Friday, the World’s Ugliest Dog Contest brings 11 contestants to Petaluma, including “Mugly,” a Chinese Crested who has traveled all the way from England for a chance to nab the title. Starts at 6pm. Then stay for country music band Lone Star at 8pm. $15 adults/$10 for children.

If you want something a little calmer, grab your kids and a blanket and head to Lucchesi Park for a . Friday’s movie is Alvin and the Chipmunks’ Chip-Wrecked. Entertainment starts at 6:30pm; movie starts at dusk.

On Saturday, help raise money for cystic fibrosis at a benefit dinner at the Sheraton. Enjoy dinner, drinks, music and dancing while raising money for research toward finding a cure toward this disease. $75.

If you love cumbias, you won’t want to miss the Fiesta Latina at the fair on Sunday. Live music includes Banda Realango, Banda Sangre Azteca and Los Shakas de Banda.

Just like they question the science of climate change, the right-wingers funding the Drakes BayRead More Oyster Farm's effort to break their deal with the National Park Service now are questioning the peer-reviewed science that led to the decision to end the marine slime and plastic pollution from the corporation's operation. And hate to break it to the author, but Cause of Action is a right-wing funded legal (tax exempt of course) group that takes on conservative causes, such as this effort to overturn the Obama Administration's correct decision to enforce the deal the Lunny's made.
