Beyond the Glory: Hearty Food, Friendly Atmosphere

Bring your friends and your appetite

Beyond the Glory Sports Bar & Grill offers hearty burgers, steaks, pasta dishes, fish tacos, soup, salads and sandwiches, along with 16 beers on tap at a full bar dominated by a wall of huge flat screen TVs.

Utilizing a double storefront on the end of the northeastern corner of the Kohl’s shopping center at 1371 N. McDowell Blvd. this is a big space, great for watching televised sports, or gatherings after your own softball or soccer matches. Mixed seating with tables, booths, bar seating and tall tables. The summertime patio in front is small, but sunny.

Executive Chef Jesus Martinez has dialed in the menu to feature beautifully cooked, fresh and flavorful dishes. Top three dishes ordered: Fiesta Wrap, grilled steak and something they call the Dirty Bird ($11.95), which is a fried chicken breast with avocado, pepperjack cheese, bacon, tomato and lettuce. Mine was scrumptious. Could only eat half of it. Enjoyed the other half for dinner.

Beyond the Glory is an eastside destination for World Series and Super Bowl or whenever there is a big game on. Before you go, check their website for online printable coupons. On Tuesdays kids eat free – but only one kid per group with one coupon – but hey, it might save you a buck or two. Oh, and there’s a game room, too.

This place can get loud, but in a happy, old friends, kind of way, so don’t moan if it’s too loud for you and you don’t like sports or music blaring from overhead televisions.

Beyond the Glory has catering and Take Out menus with easy online ordering. Their staff is friendly and professionally attentive without hovering. My server let me read while I ate but kept fresh napkins and Diet Coke coming without my asking. Thanks, Holly.
