Patch Readers Offer Favorite Local Gift Ideas and Stores

Just days to go until Christmas. Where will you shop in Sonoma and what do you recommend as gifts?

Patch asked readers on our Facebook page to tell us about their favorite places to shop in Sonoma for the holidays and their favorite types of gifts, and we prepared this collection of ideas.

We'd like you to add to the list, by leaving information in the comments section below. Help ease the shopping for your friends and neighbors.

Our readers' picks and comments:

"Anything and everything from Baksheesh Fair Trade for sure!"

"I also like to give experiences and there are so many great places to get gift certificates for massages, spa treatments etc. The Cottage Inn & Spa has amazing massages and they do gift certificates. I also like to go to Sonoma's Best and get great things for all my foodie friends (great spot for your wino friends too). Sunflower Caffe Sonoma Valley, The Epicurean Connection for more foodie stuff (especially cheese!). Living in Sonoma there is really no excuse to not shop for unique gifts people can't get anywhere else."

"Fat Pilgrim; Sonoma Best; Fleurtique; Sonoma Home; Toy Shop; Sox Store; lots of great shops"

"Always great things to be had at Readers' Books and Baksheesh."

"I've been spreading the word on locally-owned AND dog-friendly. Love that so many are! Terra Firma, Studio Collections and PK Sonoma were the most recent visited."

"I just got a great gift at Sox n Vine."

"I agree Baksheesh Fair Trade!"

I agree with all of these and would add: Eminent Design - lots of cute artsy gifts; handmade items, local art, decorations of all kinds. Examples are: textured glass serving dishes made by a local artist, jewelry, xmas tree decorations, watches, drinking glasses, vases, etc. A nice variety of items. Sign of the Bear - they seem to have every imaginable kitchen-related item! You wouldn't believe the variety of food and kitchen paraphernalia available. This store is so much fun even if you aren't a master chef. Tons of cooking items or for someone who isn't into cooking they have serving dishes, salad bowls, glasses, place settings, fancy salad tongs, etc. Great stuff!
