Lydia's Organics Celebrates Opening This Weekend

The Fairfax health food company opening cafe, community center in North Petaluma

‘Tis the season for parties and one of Petaluma’s newest businesses is throwing a shindig this weekend as a way to introduce itself to the community.

On Saturday, Dec. 3, Lydia’s Organics, an organic and raw foods maker, will hold a soft opening at its new location at 1435 N. McDowell from 11am-11pm. The location will be the hub of the business’s operations and feature a café and community space, called the Sunflower Center, that will offer workshops, yoga, music and even green business consulting and a community theater.

Lydia’s Organics began as a raw foods deli Fairfax in 1996 and has grown into a mini health food empire, producing bread, crackers, cereals and serving up items like gluten-free crepes and quinoa burgers at its deli.

Earlier this year, the business moved most of its operations to Petaluma, renting 3,500 square feet of space in North Petaluma.

On Saturday, the public is invited to visit the new business, sample some food and meet the owner, Lydia Kindheart. Lydia’s Organics is also still seeking artists, teachers, musicians, speakers and other “passionate people” for the Sunflower Center. For more info, call the center at 707-792-5300.

Yeah Lydia! I've been enjoying your goodies since you opened in Fairfax and am so happy you are in Petaluma! I always stop by your booth at the NLE or the Green Fest in SF. My mom and I love raw creations and are always experimenting, you're an inspiration! We'll be there in the evening with our veggie relatives from Maine after I close my booth down at the Holiday HoHoHo Down Craft Fair at the Vets Bldng here in town! I love to sing while I cook, clean, make my Shea creations, do I hear Musical Theatre? Looking forward to it!
