New Restaurant to Open at Former Pazzo Space

Social Club Restaurant & Bar will feature items like smoked duck, BBQ oysters, pizza and grilled meats

The space that previously occupied Pazzo on Keller Street will soon have a new tenant, a restaurant offering sophisticated takes on traditional California Mediterranean cuisine, a full bar and space for private parties.

The Social Club Restaurant & Bar at 132 Keller St. begins work on the property next week with the goal of opening by mid-July. Owner Michael Suverkrubbe hails from San Francisco where he previously owned The Cosmopolitan restaurant and still has a nightclub on Fisherman’s Wharf. He is also the creative mind behind the ultra hip Circa Restaurant and lounge in San Francisco's Marina District.

What drew Suverkrubbe to Petaluma was cheaper rents and the potential to tap into a new dining scene that was not as saturated as the city’s.

“We’ve always liked the wine country and really needed a change,” says Damion Wallace, general manager for Social Club. “We are looking to bring a bit of San Francisco to Petaluma with some cool food and combine it with the laid back wine country atmosphere.”

The owners are still deciding on the menu, but a sneak peak at one iteration includes smoked duck, steamed mussels, smoked short ribs, barbequed trumpet mushrooms, along with pizza and salads.

Social Club will have the capacity to seat 65 in the main dining room and another 40 in its private dining space. Taking over the former Pazzo location also means that the new restaurant comes with a bar and a liquor license, the latter of which can sometimes be difficult to obtain.

Social Club owners plan to construct an outdoor patio with a wood-fired grill and fire pits. There will also be occasional live music. We can’t wait to try it out!
