After six months of remodeling and other improvements, Safeway will open its new state-of-the-art store at the former Mervyn’s site on South McDowell Boulevard this Friday.
The 63,467-square-foot store will replace the existing store several doors down and feature an expanded bakery, pharmacy, floral department, deli and produce sections, along with a full-service meat and seafood departments.
The store will also sell a wide range of organic food and have an expanded Starbucks with an outdoor seating area.
Located in the Washington Square Shopping Center, the new Safeway will bring 65 jobs to Petaluma, employing a total of 215 people.
