New Store Riding Wave of Archery Mania

Adrienne and Hans Olufs are the owners of West Coast Archery, celebrating its grand opening this Friday

When many think of a bow and arrow, they imagine medieval warriors on horseback firing at enemies hidden in the trees.

Archery is one of the world’s oldest sports and has been making a comeback, thanks to movies like “The Hunger Games” and “Brave” as well as the Olympics, where the U.S. team won the very first medal of the games.

Riding the wave of archery-mania are Adrienne and Hans Olufs, who have recently opened a new archery shop and in-door shooting range on Petaluma Boulevard North.

The Olufs owned Avid Bowhunter for the past two years. Now the young couple is moving across the street and launching West Coast Archery, a 3,000 square foot facility that will have a store, repair shop and a shooting range suitable for both children and adults.

“Archery is one of those things that you can do as a family or compete,” says Hans Olufs, who is also the Vice President of the Sonoma County Bowmen Association.

This Friday, the Olufs are inviting the public to stop in for a visit, participate in a demo and enjoy some free barbeque, courtesy of Bros’ BBQ. The open house will be held Friday 5pm to 8pm at West Coast Archery, located at 2040 Petaluma Blvd. North.
