Overnight Crash in Petaluma Leaves Some Customers Without Power

Two separate outages have left 187 PG&E customers without lights or airconditioners.

An overnight traffic accident in Petaluma has left 138 customers without power Saturday morning.         

Petaluma police report that a 24-year-old driver traveling westbound on Mountain View Avenue struck a power pole and fire hydrant at  Mountain View Avenue and Fairview Terrace just after 1 a.m.        

Power lines were damaged and crews this morning are working to replace the pole and multiple spans of wire that have come down, according to  PG&E spokeswoman Jana Morris.

Mountain View Avenue between Olive Street and Grant Avenue remains closed while crews complete their work, according to police.           

Power should be restored to customers by 6 p.m., Morris said.

Police said the driver suffered minor injuries. The Petaluma resident was interviewed and released at the scene. The cause of the crash is under investigation, according to police.       

An outage first reporte at 4:10 p.m. Saturday is affecting another 49 customers said Morris.

That outage was due to failure of some underground equipment in the vicinity of American Alley.  

According to Morris, crews had to perform a series of tests to determine where the failure occurred and now that crews have done that the repairs should be finished by 6 p.m.
