Petaluma Health Center Program Takes Integrative Approach

Health and Wellness Services program includes acupuncture treatments.

The Petaluma Heath Center has a program that hospital officials say aims take patient care beyond the medicine cabinet.

The Health and Wellness Services program incorporates integrative medicine and acupuncture and community fitness along with medical education and evaluations and an employee wellness program.

“The emphasis at the Petaluma Health Center is on prevention, self-empowerment, and sustainable healthy lifestyles to engender optimum health in individuals and our community,” PHC CEO Kathie Powell said in a prepared statement.

The program includes 12 shared medical visits, 10 community fitness classes, five acupuncture treatments. It also offers ongoing integrative medicine consultations and peer-led support groups.

“Living a healthy life requires more than finding the correct prescription medicine," PHC Wellness Manger Luke Entrup said.

"It requires integrating all of the pillars of health: diet, exercise, stress management, natural remedies, sleep hygiene, social support, psycho-spiritual health and medicine. 

The PHC wellness program offers its patients the opportunity to live healthier lives through health education and support. “
