Petaluma Valley Hospital Recognized for High Quality of Service

New report shows facility top notch, especially in heart attack treatment and prevention, pneumonia and surgery

Petaluma Valley Hospital has been named one of the country's top healthcare facilities, especially in areas of heart attack and pneumonia treatment and surgical care, according to an annual report by The Joint Commission, a nonprofit that certifies health care organizations.

The report assessed more than 400 hospitals around the country based on measures such as how many patients were given aspirin upon arrival to receiving certain therapies when being first brought in following a heart attack or even administering flu shots.

PVH is the only hospital in the entire county to receive the distinction from the Joint Commission, which designed the program to create an incentive for better performance on accountability measures.
