Rosso Pizzeria Opens Next Week in Theater Square

Features pizza, pasta, piadini as well as more fanciful inventions like oyster Po Boys, clam pies, tripe and a full cheese bar.

Rosso Pizzeria and Wine Bar, a Santa Rosa favorite, is set to open Monday in Theatre Square, the Press Democrat is reporting.

Located at 151 Petaluma Blvd South (across from 7-Eleven), Rosso will feature a 25-item menu including pasta, pizza, piadini, fried calamari along with more unique items such as clam pie, Po Boy with oysters, braised leeks with burrata (that’s fresh Italian cheese made with cream) and a full cheese bar.

The selection reflects a focus on Petaluma’s thriving dairy industry, according to co-owner Kevin Cronin, who has spent the last 15 years perfecting the art of an interactive restaurant – one that incorporates local products as well as the community in making a meal.

Rosso’s philosophy is simple—food and wine are one, something Cronin picked up in his many travels to Italy. As such, Rosso will feature more than 25 wines by the glass and a wine club that will take field trips where guests can create their own wine.

"I never liked chains," said Cronin. "I want to change it up."

His reasons for choosing Petaluma stem from the availability and quality of its surrounding farms and residents that go gaga over good wine.

Rosso Pizzeria opens Monday, May 14 at 151 Petaluma Blvd. South.
