Calling all green thumbs! It's planting season and to help you stock up on supplies, Petaluma Patch has compiled a list of 12 plant sales at local garden clubs, nonprofits, churches and schools. So when you are looking for starts, seeds or anything else, consider going there first. That way, when you tend your garden, you’ll be spreading the seeds of goodwill far and wide.

Dirt Cheap Plant Sale 
This sustainable farm produces vegetables and fruits sold on site at its own farm store.

Petaluma Bounty Community Farm First Annual Plant Sale
This nonprofit is working to create a sustainable food system in Petaluma with healthy fresh food for everyone. Garden Starts is an all-volunteer group of Petaluma Bounty that creates and supports community gardens. The day will include children’s activities, workshops, and speakers along with representatives from gardening related organizations and businesses.

Valley Vista School Teaching Garden's May Day Garden Party and Plant Sale
This 11-year-old garden program, a groundbreaker among local schools, educates students about ecology, nutritional health and cooking in a hands-on outdoor learning environment. This celebration includes great food, garden presentations, fun crafts and dancing around the Maypole.

Healdsburg Garden Club Spring Plant Sale, Flower Show and Luncheon
This group of volunteers participates in local beautification projects, such as school gardens, a senior center and hospital. Proceeds go to the club’s scholarship fund, which assists local students in their horticultural education. Master Gardeners will also be on hand to answer questions and provide additional planting information.

Sonoma Garden Park Spring Plant Sale
This educational farm and community garden is managed by the Sonoma Ecology Center. It features over 150 fruit trees, bee hives, interpretive displays, solar well, crop circle, as well as scenic walking trails.

Willowside School Nursery Spring Plant Sale
This school-based program allows middle school students to learn about plant species, propagation and care in a real nursery.

Harvest for the Hungry Garden Spring Plant Sale
This all-volunteer community garden delivers organically grown produce each week to four local hunger programs: FISH of Santa Rosa; The Living Room, a drop-in center for homeless women and children, Elisha's Pantry; and Food For Thought AIDS Food Bank. Learn about organic growing techniques, habitat restoration, and water-wise gardening.

Sonoma County Jail Nursery Open House & Plant Sale
All plants are grown by inmates in the rehabilitation component of the jail's vocational program. The program also provides free vegetable starts and seeds to any school to use in their own student gardens.

Occidental Arts & Ecology Center  Spring Biodiversity Plant Sale
This nonprofit’s educational programs focus on community-based strategies for positive social change and effective environmental stewardship.
Date: Saturday, April 9 & 10.  (April 30 & May 1 are “second chance” sales, no tours.)
Time: Sales start at 9 am. Garden Tours at 11 am and 1 pm.

Luther Burbank’s Gold Ridge Experiment Farm Open House and Plant Sale
Celebrate the Apple Blossom Festival with docent led tours of the historic property, including Burbank’s cottage. On both days children will be able to pet baby chicks and bunnies. Master Gardeners will be available to answer questions. Refreshments will be served.
