National Margarita Day

National Margarita Day is this Saturday, February 22, 2014

National Margarita Day is this Saturday, February 22nd.

We wouldn't want you to miss it!

No one is quite sure when or where the margarita was invented, although there are no shortage of folks wanting to take credit. What is known is that the margarita seems to have arrived in the 1930′s or 40′s. Frozen margaritas came along in the 1970′s when a soft serve ice cream machine was converted into a frozen margarita unit.

In order to help you better celebrate, we've put together a Pinterest Margarita Board in honor of the holiday – with everything from margarita cakes to jello shots to the classic recipes.

If you really want to celebrate in style, come on down to Don Pancho's Mexican Restaurant. They have a full bar and owner Maria told me that they will have a special Margarita Day margarita on Saturday. Don Pancho's is located at 285 N. McDowell Blvd (between Kmart and CVS). Phone: (707) 775-2474

For dessert, head up a couple of doors to Fru-Ta Artisan Ice Cream. Salvator Cruz, owner of Fru-Ta,told me that they have tequila flavored ice cream and lime flavored ice cream. Fru-Ta is located at 279 N.McDowell Blvd. (707) 773-1233.

And here's Jimmy Buffet performing Margaritaville, 1973
