Year of the Horse

Celebrate the Year of the Horse at Simmer Vietnamese Kitchen or at Hunan Village Restaurant.

People born in the year of the horse are extremely animated, active and energetic. Horses love to be in a crowd, and they can usually be seen in such occasions as concerts, theaters, meetings, sporting occasions, and parties. With a deft sense of humor, horses are masters of repartee. They love to take center stage and delight audiences everywhere. via China Highlights

The Year of the Horse starts on this Friday, January 31st.  All the Chinese Zodiac symbols roll around once every 12 years, so we won’t be seeing the Year of the Horse again until 2026 – so make it last!

The Chinese also call their New Year “The Spring Festival“.  It’s a time to honor dieties and ancestors, and to gather with family members, wishing everyone good fortune in the year to come.

The Vietnamese also celebrate the New Year of the Horse on the 31st. The Vietnamese New Year is named “Tet” and is considered one of the biggest holidays of the Vietnamese year as it not only is the occasion for welcoming the New Year, but also a time of remembrance of ancestors.
