CalTrans Allocates $82 Million for Petaluma River Bridge
Highway 101 repairs over Petaluma River and near Marin's Redwood Landfill in new CTC budget
The California Transportation Commission (CTC, aka Caltrans) allocated $1.7 billion in funding for transportation projects this wek that will strengthen the state’s economy by sustaining and creating jobs and provide congestion relief for motorists statewide.
“The benefits these projects bring to California are a huge boon to the economy, and the investment in our transportation system will continue to serve motorists for generations to come,” said Caltrans Director Malcolm Dougherty.
Approximately $872 million of the funding was provided by Proposition 1B, a transportation bond approved by voters in 2006. In total, more than $13 billion in Proposition 1B funds have been distributed statewide.

Some of the notable local projects that received funding include:
Sonoma County - $81,977,000 to build a new bridge on U.S. Route 101 over the Petaluma River, along with a new interchange, frontage roads, and ramp metering.

The construction work, which could start this fall and take two years, is a major part of the widening of Highway 101 through Sonoma County and the Novato Narrows, the Press Democrat reported.
Marin County - $29,664,000 to build a new interchange and frontage roads on U.S. Route 101 at the intersection of Redwood Landfill Road in Marin County
Today’s allocations include $766 million in federal funds that will be applied to various local transportation programs statewide. The remaining allocations came from assorted state and federal transportation accounts.
