With the first significant rainfall this season, the National Weather Service is warning drivers about extra slippery roadways.
Rain is forecast to spread through the Bay Area Monday, with the possibility of further off-and-on showers through Wednesday.
Because of the heavy rain, long-accumulated oils in the pavement will start to leach out and cause slippery roadways, the NWS said.
Petaluma received 1 inch of rainfall from Sunday evening to Monday morning, according to the California Department of Water Resources.
