Goodbye, Petaluma...And Thanks for the Memories

Three years ago, I moved to Petaluma to launch a website for a new company called Patch.

Upon hearing our name, many of you were perplexed. Was Patch a gardening site? A home repair service? No one quite knew.

But you took a chance on us, sending story tips and taking the time explain issues, from water rights and the California Environmental Quality Act to municipal finance and about who’s who in our town.

Your passion and enthusiasm for the community was infectious and made reporting about Petaluma so much fun. In the 2 years and seven months the site has been live, we’ve written about the city’s ongoing budget crisis, local business, schools, artists and about all the awesome people that make Petaluma such a special place to live.

With your help, I became a better reporter and Petaluma Patch an integral part of the community.

But now, the time has come for me to move on and starting next week I will take over as editor of Novato Patch. Carlos Villatoro, our Assistant Regional Editor, and Reporter Joe Sumbi will continue running Petaluma Patch. I encourage you to reach out to them with story ideas, questions or concerns. Of course you can still reach me at karina@patch.com.

Thank you, Petaluma. You are one of a kind and will always be in my heart.
